F for Fondant, Flowers, and Fun July 2, 2008

With that pound of fondant that I bought there was more than enough left over from the cupcakes. So, these bored hands decided to take a try at fondant roses before it was pushed to the back of the pantry to go rancid and hard.

The petals were a bit thick. It was tricky trying to keep them from wilting over and falling off. But for a the first flower, it’s pretty decent. I’ll just have to keep practicing.

I’ve always found these Asian plants interesting. Supposedly, they bring good luck. The one above was my very first bamboo that I got at a Latino flea market. I was quite attched to it. I’d actually sit down every night before I went to sleep and talk to it. Then I left for Mexico one summer and forsaked it to wilt into a yellow, not-so-lucky plant.

I was sad. But, just a few weeks ago, my mommy bought me a new bamboo plant:

And this one comes with a garsh-darn cute elephant to take care of it for me! I think I’ll name her Lucky…
